Preparing for the Eclipse: Communicating your Science to the Public

Tuesday, May 31, 12:00 - 2:00, UMC Room 247

Explaining science to our peers, the general public, the media, friends, and family can be challenging. There are however, techniques to be learned that can help even the most experienced improve their skills. In this two-hour workshop with Dr. Kim Childers of the University of Florida's School of Journalism and Communcation, we will work together to hone our techniques and avoid common pitfalls such as overuse of jargon and not providing context. Students and early career researchers are stongly encouraged to attend, but the workshop will provide tips for even the senior scientist. Bring your laptop or tablet.

Lunch will be provided if you register for the workshop in advance.
